Bakanae is caused by fungal pathogen.
Due to the production of gibberlins by the fungus, there may be arial adventious roots from the roots above the ground level.
Infected plants are abnormally taller and lanky than the healthy plant.
Affected seedlings may flower early and may lead to death of the entire plant.
Practice seed treatment by using suitable fungicides.
Spray carbendazim 1.0g/l with a gap of 10-15 days (twice).
